TOKYO (majirox news) – Tokyo American Club (TAC) has set up two separate appeals to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated coastal communities in northeastern Japan on March 11.
First launching a relief fund to collect cash donations from its members and the general public, TAC has started a drive for food and supplies, including such much-needed items as instant noodles, canned food, clothes, diapers, cold medicine and toilet paper.
The first relief supplies were delivered to the town of Soma on the Fukushima Prefecture coast this week. About 240,000 people continue to seek shelter in approximately 1,900 shelters, according to the National Police Agency.
While the task force hasn’t yet identified a recipient emergency relief organization(s), people can still pledge money to the relief fund by sending donations (all major currencies accepted) by wire transfer to the following Club account:
Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ (bank code: 0005)
Tamachi Branch (branch code: 043)
Futsu (ordinary) account: 2524059 Shadan Hojin Tokyo American Club
SWIFT code: BOTKJPJT
