FUKUOKA (majirox news) — A group of six junior high school pupils who dumped dead fish into their school pool because they didn’t want to take swimming class have been reported to prosecutors, police said.
Documents alleging a charge of forcible obstruction of business against the six boys, all third-year pupils at a municipally operated junior high school in Kurate, Fukuoka prefecture, about 900 kilometers (550 miles) west of Tokyo, were sent to the Iizuka Branch of the Fukuoka District Public Prosecutors Office on July 15.
Police said the boys have all admitted to the allegations.
“Swimming class is no fun,” an officer quoted one as saying, adding that another had said: “I hate having to wear the swimsuit the school makes us wear.”
Police said that on the night of July 3 and again on the morning of July 5, the boys dumped about 70 dead fish into their school’s outdoor swimming pool so nobody could swim in it and they would not have to take swimming lessons.
