TOKYO (majirox news) — A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) inspector and two former MPD police officers have been arrested for leaking investigation information related to a cosmetic surgery facing charges over a fatality, police said July 21.
Yoichi Shiratori, 58, the inspector, was arrested for breaking the Local Public Service Law after he allegedly leaked information about an investigation into the Shinagawa Cosmetic Surgery.
Also arrested for purportedly breaking the same law were former MPD officers and current employees of the surgery, Noriaki Nakamichi, 63, and Miyakazu Ishihara, 61, who are accused of encouraging Shiratori to leak information about the probe.
Shinagawa Cosmetic Surgery is being investigated by the MPD amid allegations of professional negligence resulting in death.
Police said the surgery used the two former officers to entertain Shiratori in return for information about the investigation into its actions. Police added that they are continuing to look into the details of the case.
