Norway terror suspect demands Japanese psychiatrist

TOKYO (majirox news) — The man accused of terror attacks that killed 77 in Norway last month is demanding that a Japanese psychiatrist carry out a mental evaluation as “the Japanese understand the idea and values of honor,” his lawyer told Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv on Aug. 2.

Geir Lippestad, lawyer for the 32-year-old suspect Anders Behring Breivik, said his client “claims the Japanese understand the idea and values of honor and that a Japanese would understand him a lot better than any European would.”

Lippestad said Breivik has made a series of demands, some common, but others “unrealistic, far, far from the real world and shows he doesn’t know how society works.”

Breivik, a white supremacist, has expressed admiration for Japan, including showering it with praise for what he said was its monoculture
