Japanese throw support behind Google+

TOKYO (majirox news) — Japanese users have made their mark on Google+, ranking 6th globally for joining up the fastest-growing social networking service online, according to online market research company User Local Inc.

Japanese users follow only those in the United States for the number of messages posted, accounting for 17% of the overall traffic on Google+.

“The high number of posts made compared to the number of users in Japan is astounding,” a User Local spokesperson said in reference to its findings.

On Aug. 29, User Local began issuing Journal+, an online magazine made up of posts popular on Google+.

Search engine giant Google began operating Google+ in July, taking on the likes of Facebook, which has over 500 million users across the world. Within four weeks of operation, Google+ had attracted more than 25 million unique users.
