TOKYO (majirox news) — Apple Inc. has continued its global battle against Samsung over patent infringements it holds on the iPhone and iPad with Tokyo District Court hearings beginning Sept. 7 in a lawsuit against the Samsung group companies.

Apple accuses Samsung Japan Corp. and Samsung Telecommunications Japan of patent violations and is seeking 100 million yen ($1.25 million) in compensation for damages.

Samsung lawyers used the opening of the case to demand the court dismiss Apple’s claims.

Apple sued Samsung in the United States in April after its mobile phone handsets equipped with the Android operating system began eating into its market share at a rapid rate. Apple says Samsung’s flagship Galaxy is a copycat of the iPhone.
