Japanese companies missing from Asia’s Fab 50

TOKYO (majirox news) — Not a single Japanese company was among Asia’s 50 most-profitable organizations, according to Forbes magazine’s Asian Fab 50.

Japanese companies once dominated the list, which the U.S. magazine’s Asian edition began compiling from 2005, but disappeared from its ranks in 2011.

Chinese companies, meanwhile, have asserted their growing power, accounting for 23 of the top 50 companies in the region, according to Forbes.

Forbes blamed the March 11 disasters eating into profits for the lack of a Japanese company on the list.

When Forbes began the Fab 50 in 2005, Toyota Motor Co. spearheaded 13 Japanese companies in the list, but the number making the top 50 dropped annually thereafter.
