It was their first visit here in 7 years. Aerosmith said they were excited to return to Japan after the country’s tragedy (March 11 earthquake and subsequent tsunami) and play for their fans.
Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues.
Vocalist and Frontman Steven Tyler, shouted “Konnichi, Tokyo” and then played 20 songs, including the band’s hit songs “Walk this Way” and “Dream On,” to their enthusiastic fans.
Bassist Tom Hamilton said, “Every time we’ve come to Japan we’ve had a great time. We’ll continue to do our best to bring a show that meets the high expectations of our Japanese fans. Let’s Rock!”
Guitarist Joe Perry noted, “Our prayers are with all of our Japanese fans and the people of Japan who have supported us for the past 40 years. They can use all of our prayers and whatever help we can give.”
Their next stop is Kyocera Dome in Osaka on Dec 6 — a total of 8 performances in 7 cities. They kicked off their Tokyo 2011 tour of Japan on Nov. 22 in Kanazawa.
