TOKYO (majirox news) — A three-day-old infant who went missing Oct. 6 was found in the evening the same day at Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka prefecture and appears to be fine, Fukuoka Prefectural Police said.

A man who was not identified called the Kitakyushu police box about two and a half hours after the baby girl was reported missing from the Kitakyushu Medical Center at 4:30 p.m. He said the infant was in his apartment.

“I found a child,” he said. He allegedly claimed his girlfriend took it.

The police went to the man’s apartment and discovered the baby in a cardboard box with no conspicuous injuries.

The baby was taken from the hospital when her mother, 35-year-old Naomi Hiroto, walked to the bathroom about 4:30 p.m.

No other details were given; the police are investigating the incident.
